Dan Kalbfleisch grew up in Gurnee, Illinois, but moved to Los Angeles, California looking for an opportunity for success. He found the sport of sumo in 2005 and quickly rose to the top. Dan won the US Openweight title in 2007, and continued his winning streak the next two years. In 2008, he placed 5th at the World Sumo Championships.

Dan wants to continue representing his country at international competitions, as well as generating more American interest in this ancient martial art. He teamed up with Eric the Trainer in order to accomplish these goals. As the captain of Eric the Trainer’s Sumo Team, Dan hopes to further advance the sport of sumo.
