NAME: Joe Isamau
HEIGHT: 6′2
WEIGHT: 330 lbs
Hailing from the Kingdom of Tonga, Joe moved to the United States looking for a better life. While working as a health care provider, he figured that his physical strength could help him succeed in the sport of sumo. Now Joe hopes to prove his skill by following in the footsteps of other great Polynesian sumo wrestlers.


NAME: Jose Jimenez
HEIGHT: 5′9
WEIGHT: 235 lbs
With his gallery of colorful tattoos, Jose stands out even in a sumo crowd. His years of martial arts experience, including jiu-jitsu and muay tai, made for an easy transition into the sport of sumo. Jose’s new training comes in handy while working his job as a night club bouncer.


NAME: Jovann Rushing
HEIGHT: 5′4
WEIGHT: 170 lbs
ACHIEVEMENTS: 2007 US Lightweight Silver
With his short stature and chiseled physique, Jovann breaks the stereotype of a typical sumo body. He’s been a frequent lightweight competitor since 2004, always placing behind his close friend Trent. In addition to sumo, Jovann has recently been competing in, and winning, bodybuilding competitions.


NAME: Ryan White
HEIGHT: 6′1
WEIGHT: 245 lbs
Originally from Philadelphia, Ryan has already traveled the world as a member of the United States Marine Corps. He knows that becoming a champion sumo wrestler will give him another chance to represent his country. Ryan is currently studying culinary arts, which he believes will help him with his sumo training.


NAME: Steve Bird
HEIGHT: 6′1
WEIGHT: 220 lbs
ACHIEVEMENTS: 2009 US Lightweight Bronze
Steve began sumo in 2008, after watching his childhood friend Dan win the US Championship. Living out in Illinois, he started his own sumo club in order to train for competition. With his natural athleticism and fierce dedication, Steve could be a future champion in either lightweight or middleweight division.
